FUTSALCUP: Sahako scores a game-winning goal late to win Group B

FUTSALCUP: Sahako 6 September 2022: KORAT Sahako FC from Vietnam defeated Selangor MAC from Malaysia by a score of 2-1 thanks to a goal by Nguyen Duc Huy in extra time, and they also won Group B of the AFF Futsal Cup 2022 at Terminal 21 in Korat.

Both sides had their sights set on winning the group going into this afternoon’s final match in order to avoid playing the home team Hongyen Thakam FC in the crossover semifinals.

In fact, Selangor took the lead after just two minutes of play when Muhammad Ekmal Shahrin pounced on a corner kick from Matheus Silva.

Selangor MAC’s victory in the group would be lost as a result of two brief lapses in focus near the finish of the game when Sahako was pressing hard and Selangor MAC was largely remaining passive.

Duong Ngoc Linh hit a hard grounder in the 38th minute that Selangor MAC goalkeeper Muhammad Syaifuddin Syukri Ibrahim Lincoln couldn’t stop from going in for the equalizer.

Nguyen Duc Huy then had the easiest of tap-ins with a few seconds left on the clock to give Sahako the well-deserving victory and their position at the top of Group B.

Meanwhile, Thailand’s Hongyen Thakam defeated Cambodia’s Down Town Sport 11-2 to take first place in Group A of the competition this year.

However, the host team did not have the best of starts as they allowed an own goal to be scored by Pokawin Anantasaksothon in the very first minute of play.

Hongyen Thakam, who is presently leading the Thailand Futsal League 2022, however, proved to be unstoppable as they romped to a 3-1 lead at the half with to goals from Siksaka Pramanong (9th), Amarin Akapan (12th), and Keattisak Songkhrao (14th).

Therdsak Charoenphon scored twice in the 27th and 32nd minute, Wilson Neto scored in the 27th and 32nd minute, Wittaya Duangpoo scored in the 33rd and 39th minute, Charoen Seana scored in the 35th and 35th minute, and Supot Makrak scored in the 35th and 35th minute (40th).

Ros Sichamrouen scored the other goal for Down Town Sport in the 31st minute.
